清华大学科学馆建成于1919年，建成初期是清华理科教学科研的主要场所，一大批物理、数学大师在这里学习、工作过。1926年，清华大学创办物理系，物理系馆设立在科学馆直至1999年。杨振宁先生儿时常随父亲来科学馆。耄耋之年他归根清华，创建的高等研究院，办公地点又设立在科学馆。科学馆既见证了清华物理的百年风云，又见证了百岁老人的家国情怀。在2021年9月23号庆祝杨先生百岁华诞的学术活动上，杨先生说，“中国”和“物理”是他关心的两件事情，而“中国的物理”是他最关心的事情。
我们以“世纪物理情”系列讲座，研讨物理学最新进展，传承杨振宁先生等老一辈清华物理人的学术薪火，为中国物理学的发展尽绵薄之力。
