I am working in condensed matter physics and several interdisciplinary subjects. My current research focuses are:

1. Topological phases and topological phenomena in condensed matter physics.

2. Non-Hermitian physics; Many-body physics of open quantum systems.

3. Strongly correlated systems in and out of equilibrium.

[1] Edge states and topological invariants of non-Hermitian systems

The non-Bloch band theory is proposed, and then applied to understand non-Hermitian topology. Several terms introduced in this paper, including the "non-Hermitian skin effect" and "generalized Brillouin zone", are now commonly used in non-Hermitian physics. A number of predictions of this theory have been confirmed experimentally.

This work reported the experimental observation of non-Hermitian skin effect. It also confirmed the non-Bloch bulk-boundary correspondence, one of the predictions of non-Bloch band theory.

Topological invariants based on zero-frequency Green's function are proposed. They have later been applied to study topological states in interacting systems.

The precise equivalence is established between the topological invariant based on topological band theory and that based on topological field theory, bridging these two approaches to topological insulators.
