Title: Quantum Liquids in One Dimension

Speaker: Professor Alex Kamenev

William I Fine Theoretical Physics Institute

University of Minnesota

Abstract:Recent experiments with cold atoms and optical lattices achieved a great progress in fabricating and studying 1d quantum liquids. I shall review relevant theoretical concepts such as Luttinger liquid, Tonks gas, dark solitons, Bloch oscillations, etc. and explain how they help to guide experimental efforts.
