Title: Odd-parity pairing and topological superconductivity: theory and application to CuxBi2Se3

Speaker: Dr. Liang Fu (傅亮)

Department of Physics, Harvard University

Abstract:I will propose an unconventional odd-parity pairing in a recently discovered superconductor Cu-doped Bi2Se3, which is favored

by strong spin-orbit coupling. This superconducting state realizes a 3D topological superconductor which is fully gapped in the

bulk but have gapless Majorana fermion excitations on the surface. I will describe general criterion and experimental signatures of

topological superconductors. I will end by discussing recent experimental progress towards understanding superconductivity

in CuxBi2Se3.
