Title: Scattering Secondaries in the Cosmic Microwave Background

Speaker: Professor Wayne Hu

University of Chicago

Abstract:I will discuss reionization signatures and review the generation of linear polarization in the CMB. The CMB contains useful information on the total optical depth, the reionization history, and the physical size of ionization regions. These quantities in turn impact studies of inflation and dark energy opening opportunities to study gravitational waves and the microphysics of inflation and the slowing of the growth of structure during the acceleration epoch.
